Prof. Wang Yousheng

Born in Hangzhou, Professor Wang Yousheng is an expert in power electronics. He graduated from Dept. of Electrical Engineering, Zhejiang University in 1950, and has been teaching in the same department ever since 1950. He was elected academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering in 1994.

In 1958 he iniated the technology of Double Water Inner-cooled Electrical Generator in the world. He successfully developed China's first 1kHz/100kW SCR Thyristor intermediate frequency induction heating power supply in 1970, the improved intermediate frequency power supply in 1975, China’s homemade (1500kW) intermediate frequency power supply with the largest capacity in 1987, 250kW / / 8kHz simple parallel resonant converter for medium frequency power supply in 1988, and medium frequency power supply controlled by modules in 1991. He meanwhile presided over the development of medium frequency power series of 400Hz ~ 8kHz, 100kW ~ 1500kW, and promote in person its application in such industries as melting, thermal processing and heat treatment.
