Prof Brett Nener, vice dean of Faculty of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics (FECM) from the University of Western Australia (UWA) visited EE College this Tuesday on Dec 4. Prof Wei Wei, executive dean of the College, together with Prof Gan, the vice dean in charge of international relations, met with him and two sides held a friendly talk.
After a brief introduction of CEE and FECM in respect of teaching, research and international relations respectively by Prof Wei and Prof Nener, the two sides centered on outcomes of Prof Wu Chaohui's (vice president of Zhejiang Univeristy) visit to UWA this summer, which was done according to Go8-C9 Research Leadership Executive Shadowing Program. Prof Wei demonstrated the current construction of Cyrus Tang Center for Smart Grid Operation, going into details the four research sections on Renewable energy grid planning and power management, renewable energy grid integration control, energy storage technology and wind solar grid connection technology. It was then followed by a heated discussion on hot issues regarding Smart Grids. Both sides hoped to take full advantage of its disciplines and scientific resources to produce some fruits in collaborative research and teaching in future.
Prof Nener's visit to EE College is part of schedules by the delegates of state of Western Austrilia to Zhejiang University. Zhejiang Unviersity and the University of Western Australia have already conducted a comprehensive and diversified bilateral cooperation and exchanges since the two universities became sister universities in 1996.
