The 17th International Conference on Electrical Machines and Systems (ICEMS2014), organized by EE College of Zhejiang University, was grandly held at Sheraton Wetland Park Resort in Hangzhou on Oct 23 this Thursday. Prof Shen Jianxin from ZJU-EE announced the opening ceremony of the conference as the chairman. Mr Song Yonghua, (vice president of ZJU), Mr Gu Guobiao (academician of Chinese Academy of Science), Prof Ichiro Miki (chairman of IEEJ-IAS, Japan), Prof Heung Kyo Shin(chairman of KIEE-IAS, South Korea), and Dr Blake Lloyd (chairman of IEEE-IAS) attended the ceremony and delivered welcome speeches.
Professors were delivering welcome speeches on the opening ceremony of the ICEMS2014.
The ICEMS2014 was sponsored by China Electrotechnical Society (CES), co-sponsored by Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan – Industry Applications Society (IEEJ-IAS), Korea Institute of Electrical Engineers (KIEE) and Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), and also technically co-sponsored by the IEEE Industry Applications Society (IEEEIAS).
As the organizer of ICEMS2014, ZJU-EE intended to made the Conference a forum for researchers, professionals and engineers from all over the world to present their latest research and development results, and to exchange information and experiences in the fields of electrical machines and systems, such as machines topologies, design, modeling, analysis, control, manufacture, testing, applications, maintenance, standards and education.
The conference has attracted about 700 participants from China, Japan, North Korea, UK, Thailand, Germany, France, USA, Denmark and other 15 countries. With over 40 parallel sessions, the ICEMS2014 provided an opportunity for the discussion of a total of 687 high-quality papers accepted in the proceedings after peer reviews among 1130 submissions from all over the world. The attendees would, by means of oral presentation (lecture session), poster presentation (dialogue session) and exhibition, explore such research areas of motor system and control, renewable energy and electric transportation. Besides technical sessions during the conference, Prof Ion Boldea, Frede Blaabjerg, Jacek F. Gieras, C. C. Chan, Yves Perriard, Robert Nilssen and Prof Z. Q. Zhu, the world renowned technical leaders, were invited to make keynote speeches to share with the attendees their insights into new trends in their research areas.
Due to its international impact, the ICEMS2014 attracted as well a great number of industrial partners to be actively involved in industrial exhibition and technical discussion of the conference, among whom there were well known enterprises both at home and abroad like Etada technology, Wolong Electric, Songke Technic for Magnet, Founder Motor Co., Ltd., PM Motor Specialsit, ANSYS, dSPACE, Danfoss and Motor Design.
