Technically co-sponsored by IEEE EMC Society, APEMC has developed into one of the three most important conferences in the EMC fields. It has so far been hosted by countries in the Asia-Pacific region ever since its first conference held in Singapore. The APEMC Young Scientist Award is first established by the Asia Pacific EMC Committee in the APEMC 2016 to recognize a young scientist who has distinguished him/herself through technical accomplishments in Electromagnetic Compatibility and related fields under the age of 38. It was reported that 8 young scientists received the APEMC Young Scientist Awards who were encouraged to become leading researchers of the next generation in the EMC fields.

Dr. Chen Henglin is currently associate professor in the Power Electronics Research Institute of EE College at Zhejiang University. His research interest includes electromagnetic interference (EMI) measurement, modeling, simulation, and suppression technologies for power electronics, EMC technologies for electric vehicles, and EMI issues with swtching mode power supplies. He has authored or coauthored more than 30 papers published in international journals and conference proceedings. He is the primary investigator of several projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), the Science and Technology Research Program of Zhejiang Province, and many industrial companies. Dr. Chen is very active in the EMC fields. He has been Associate Director for the EMC committee of the China Power Supply Society since April, 2014, and the Deputy Secretary General of Zhejiang Province Power Supply Society since November, 2009. He was the session chair for Smart Grid and Power Electronics in APEMC 2016, EMC issues of electric vehicles in IEEE VPPC 2016, power electronics EMC in APEMC 2012, and for power electronics in 2012 NSFC Forum of Electrical Engineering.
