On Jan. 6th, 2018, Zhejiang University held an appointment ceremony “Welcome to ZJU” in Yuquan Campus. Professor Xia Changliang, a member of Chinese Academy of Engineering, was appointed as Qiushi Chair Professor of ZJU. Zou Xiaodong, Secretary of the Party Committee of ZJU, presented Prof. Xia with an appointment certificate and put on a university badge for him. Present at the ceremony were heads from relevant departments of ZJU, and some students and faculty from EE College. The ceremony was chaired by Wang Ruifei, Secretary of the Party Committee of EE College.
Zou Xiaodong, Secretary of the Party Committee of ZJU, presented Prof. Xia Changliang the letter of appointment for Qiushi Chair Professor by the University on Jan. 6th, 2018.
At the appointment ceremony, Sheng Kuang, dean of EE College, introduced Prof. Xia’s major research achievements and experiences. Prof. Xia studied in Department of Electrical Engineering of ZJU from 1990 to 1995 and got his master’s degree and doctor’s degree. Prof. Xia was elected as member of Chinese Academy of Engineering in 2017and he is the only one under the age of 50 among 67 newly elected members of Chinese Academy of Engineering. As the chief scientist, he presided over the only one “973 Program” in Electrical Engineering discipline. And he, as the chief scientist, also presided over the only one project of the Major Program of “National Natural Science Foundation of China” in Electrical Engineering discipline. He won second prize of “National Award for Technological Invention”, and second prize of “National Prize for Progress in Science and Technology”. In addition, he was also the Cheung Kong Distinguished Professor, recipient of NSFC for Distinguished Young Scholars, chief scientist of “973 Program” and recipient of National High-level Personnel of Special Support Program in China.
Zou Xiaodong extended his cordial welcome to Prof. Xia. He stressed that Prof. Xia's joining would play a vital role in leading and promoting the development of Electrical Engineering discipline in Zhejiang University. And he hoped relevant departments offer comprehensive support for Prof. Xia’s work in ZJU. He believed that the College of Electrical Engineering would certainly be able to make better development and make greater contributions in the construction of “Double First-Class” project.
Prof. Xia felt honored to be appointed as Qiushi Chair Professor by his alma mater. He hoped to serve and promote the development of ZJU with students and teachers of EE College in the future.
