On the morning of September 13, 2018, the opening ceremony of “Zhejiang University-LG Joint Lab” was held at Yuquan Campus of Zhejiang University. Yan Jianhua, vice president of Zhejiang University, Zhao Rongxiang, dean of the Industrial Technology Research Institute, Sheng Kuang, dean of Electrical Engineering College, and Jeon Simoon, vice president of South Korea’s LG Electronics, Kang Junkoo, senior manager were present at the unveiling ceremony.
Vice president Yan Jianhua affirmed the cooperation between Zhejiang University and LG Electronics, expressed appreciation for the concept of “Life is Good” pioneered by LG Electronics, and put forward three requirements for the development of the joint laboratory: First, it is necessary to establish a system of regulations, ensure that the joint laboratory has complete rules and regulations; the second is to strengthen the communication between ZJU and LG, and combine the advantages of both sides to produce excellent research output; the third is to take the opportunity of this joint laboratory to deepen the cooperation between the both sides and achieve a win-win outcome.
Vice president Jeon Simoon highly praised the great achievements made by Zhejiang University, expressed the hope that through the joint laboratory, more extensive and in-depth technical cooperation will be carried out with Zhejiang University in the field of power electronics and electric drive. With the joint efforts of both sides, the research outcomes can be transformed into actual productivity to change the world and create a better life. In the end, Vice President Yan Jianhua and Vice President Jeon Simoon unveiled the Zhejiang University-LG Joint Lab together.
Prof. Xu Dehong, director of the Institute of Power Electronics Technology of Zhejiang University, presided over the unveiling ceremony. The representatives of teachers and students of Electrical Engineering College attended the unveiling ceremony.
